Joined Bank of Japan in 2010.After working in Financial System and Bank Examination Department, Nagoya Branch, Secretariat of the Policy Board, and Information System Services Department, I was transferred to Strategy Development Division of Strategy Development and Management Bureau of Financial Services Agency in July 2020.

This presentation will explain the domestic and international outlook for crypto assets and digital currencies in 2021. Crypto assets have been trending upward since last year due to the entry of PayPal, Inc. and institutional investors. The price of bitcoin is now on historical high levels. Two types of digital currency are evolving rapidly at the same time: stable coins (crypto assets backed by legal tender), and privately issued currencies such as Facebook's Diem (formerly Libra), and central bank-issued currencies (CBDC) such as China's digital renminbi.

Eiji Kobayashi is Country Head of Securitize Japan K.K., the leading global platform for issuing digital securities. Eiji has a background in investment banking, payment, and country leadership roles with over 30 years experience. Prior to Securitize, Eiji worked at Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets and Goldman Sachs in New York, Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, and Japan market lead roles at American Express Commercial Card Division, Western Union and an European iunsurtech start-up. Eiji has an A.B. degree in Mathematical Economics from Brown University and M.B.A from the University of Chicago


Hiroshi Kamiwaki

Hiroshi Kamiwaki joined SMDAM as Japanese equity and derivatives trader in 2017.He is also representative of SMDAM for the Distributed Ledger Technology Project in trading matching processes.
He started his career as a trader at Daiwa securities SMBC in 2003 after graduating from Waseda University.Prior to joining SMDAM,Hiroshi earned MBA in New York,worked at Citi,Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse in sales and trading,covering institutions and hedge funds.In addition to acting as a panelist at various conferences,Hiroshi also works as commentator for news media,specializing on blockchain and digital asset.

Tatsuya joined Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation in 2010. He has experience in corporate banking, real estate brokerage, and subsequently IT strategic planning in system section. He has been driving company-wide Fintech business as the first full-time member of the Center of FinTech Office established in 2016. Tatsuya currently engages as project manager in developing “Progmat” which enables issuance and management of security tokens.

Accumulated the base related to corporate finance at Aozora Bank, and engaged in a wide range of venture investment and acquisition investment at ITX (former Nissho Iwai’s IT-related business and investment company). When seconded from the bank to a venture, gained knowledge of IT-related technology in a large LED display installation project in Shibuya. After that, he was involved in the management of IT companies after the acquisition, and has knowledge in both finance and management of operating companies. From 2019 to 2020, he was the chairman of the ICO / STO department at the Japan Cryptocurrency Business Association (JCBA), and made various recommendations regarding ICO / STO regulation.


Hiroshi Matsubara

Co-Chair, FIX Trading Community Japan Regional Committee

With 30 year industry experience in marketing financial information and electronic transaction products. Serves as Co-Chair of the Japan regional committee of FIX Trading Community since 2007 and has taken the industrial thought leadership role. Before joining Fidessa (now in ION Group), held the position with TradingScreen, and had worked for Reuters for 17 years holding various product marketing positions both in Japan and overseas (UK and US). Joined Reuters London as a graduate management trainee from Reuters Asia in 1987.
