Crypto assets have been trending upward since last year due to the entry of PayPal, Inc. and institutional investors. The price of bitcoin is now on historical high levels.
Two types of digital currency are evolving rapidly at the same time: stable coins (crypto assets backed by legal tender), and privately issued currencies such as Facebook's Diem (formerly Libra), and central bank-issued currencies (CBDC) such as China's digital renminbi.

Digital Securities (Security Token) Trading
– Towards DX(Digital Transformation) of the Securities Markets

Digital Securities (Security Token) has been formerly defined as a regulated financial instrument under enforcement of the revised Financial Instrument and Exchange Act in May 2020. POC projects around STO have been taken place by the major financial institutions and Japan STO Association was established by leading domestic securities firms as an industrial self-regulatory body. There have been cases of tokenizing real-estate products but we have not seen a big wave of expanding the digital securities markets in Japan yet. This panel will analyze the current situation and issues (e.g. regulation) of STO and discuss what the future holds in the Japanese market.
